Rain, rain go away!
Hay making in recent years has not been easy. Weather conditions, ranging from extreme heat which leads to poor growth and a lower yield, through to torrential rain which leaves the land inaccessible for planting, have made for some challenging conditions.
As a horse owner, sourcing quality hay and looking after gut health has become tricky. Certainly not helped by having to manage the need for fresh air and grass against muddy fields and incredible heat. All leading to increased bedding and fodder costs.
Good job we love our horses!
Here at Colehay, we work very hard to supply consistently good hay and bedding all year round and I’m sure we’ll step up to the plate during 2024.
We will be working with hay from our 2023 harvest until the new hay is ready to feed, probably around the end of August, beginning of September.
As well as producing and selling our wonderful hay and top quality bedding, Colehay have had the honour of being chosen to provide our beautiful golden straw bales for some really fantastic events – from weddings and festivals to creating and building some extraordinary straw bale structures.
We occasionally hold stock locally of our small bale straw, small bale meadow hay and large bale haylage and hay. Please call for more information. The separate pallet rate delivery charge is applicable to most parts of the mainland UK – Some postcodes attract higher delivery charges, including but not limited to postcodes DD, AB, IV, KW, KA27-28, PA20+, PH6+ and Highlands and Islands of Scotland. If your postcode attracts a higher delivery charge then you will be notified on ordering. Please ring for more information.
